Activate your affiliates: the checklist
Approved affiliates actually publish: the first ask prepared for them, onboarding emails on, one campaign paying for the first action, the quick wins taken, and the movers identified before you recruit anyone else.
Print it, or save it as a PDF, and work down it. Each step says how much counts as done. Full lessons at getreditus.com/academy/activate-your-affiliates
By the end of this track you have
- One specific first ask, with the asset attached, sent to every approved affiliateAn approved affiliate waits for you. If the first step takes them an hour, most never take it.
- Onboarding emails switched on, with your affiliate-facing offer in the first oneThey are off until you save them. Every affiliate approved before that gets nothing.
- One campaign live that pays for the first action you wantPure revenue share is no longer enough. Affiliates who lost search traffic ask to be paid for effort, and a campaign is how you do that on your terms.
- Two lists from your reports: who published, who sent a click, and what the movers had in commonThat is what you replicate in Track 5. Without it, recruiting more only multiplies the silence.
Lesson 1
Assume your affiliates are busy, and do their first step for them
Treat the two weeks after approval as the window that decides whether an affiliate ever publishes, and make the first ask so small and so prepared that saying yes is easier than ignoring it.
- Pick the one thing you want every new affiliate to do first, and prepare it: the article outline, the newsletter blurb, the postTarget: One ask, with the material attachedYour goal is to help the affiliate make money. Treat them as busy and lazy, do the first step for them, and learn from whoever moves.
- Send that ask to every affiliate approved in the last 30 daysTarget: Every one of them, this weekApproval without an ask is a list, not a program.

Lesson 2
Turn on the onboarding emails and put your affiliate offer in the first one
Enable the automated onboarding sequence, put the offer for the affiliate's audience (a discount or a coupon code) in the first email, and use the sequence to ask for the first action rather than to say welcome.
- Open the automated emails, put your audience offer and the first ask in email one, and saveTarget: Switched on before your next approvalA partnership being created is the trigger. Anyone approved before you save gets nothing.
- Create the coupon codes for the affiliates who work with communities or clientsTarget: One Stripe coupon ID per affiliateThe code has to be its own coupon. A shared coupon with different names cannot be attributed to anyone.

Lesson 3
Pay for the first action with a campaign, and check the work before you pay
Create a campaign that pays a bonus for the one action you want first (an article, a video, a newsletter mention), set the bonus by the value of the placement, verify the affiliate owns the site on submission, and send fully AI-written drafts back for a human pass.
- Create one campaign for the first action you want, with the rules and the proof spelled outTarget: 1 live campaignAn accepted affiliate waits for you. A campaign gives them a reason to move this week and gets paid only when the work is submitted.
- On every submission, check the site is theirs, check the article is not the raw AI draft, and adjust the bonus to the placement before you approveTarget: Every submission checkedA submitted article proves ownership. A first draft straight out of a chatbot is not worth the bonus; ask for the human pass.

Lesson 4
Take the quick wins: newsletter placements, a paid-ads partner and hybrid deals
Find the affiliates who can send traffic this month rather than this quarter (a newsletter to your ICP, a paid-ads partner who wants a call first, an agency with a client list), and structure hybrid deals that trade a lower upfront fee for commission.
- Ask every approved affiliate one question: what would make promoting us worth your time this monthTarget: Every affiliate asked, answers notedAffiliates who lost search traffic to AI answers now ask for upfront money. You want to hear it from them, not guess.
- Where the upfront ask is too high, counter with a hybrid: a smaller upfront plus commissionTarget: One hybrid offer per placement you wantA newsletter slot sold at a flat price becomes affordable when part of it is paid on results.

Lesson 5
Measure activation, learn from the affiliates who moved, and fix it before you recruit more
Pull two lists from your reports, who published and who sent a click in the last 30 days, work out what the movers had in common, and apply that to the silent majority before adding anyone new.
- List who published and who sent a click in the last 30 days, next to your approval notesTarget: Two lists, every 30 daysOver 90% of affiliate-months produce no paid referral. The question is never "why is it low", it is "what did the ones who moved have in common".
- Change one thing in the onboarding sequence or the campaign based on the movers, before you recruit anyone elseTarget: One change per cycleRecruiting into an activation problem multiplies it.
