Reditus Academy · Track 2 · Days 15 to 45
Get your first affiliates in: the checklist
Thirty to sixty affiliates approved in month one if you are listed, recruited from your own network first, from all four surfaces, and vetted on traffic rather than location.
Print it, or save it as a PDF, and work down it. Each step says how much counts as done. Full lessons at getreditus.com/academy/your-first-affiliates
By the end of this track you have
- Everyone in your own network invited: users into the referral program, agencies, consultants and partners into the affiliate programPeople who already use your product convert first and churn least. Invite the whole list, not the top ten.
- Listed in the marketplace in week one, if your plan allows itMost month-one inbound comes from the listing and the affiliate dashboard.
- 30 to 60 affiliates approved by day 30 if you are listedThat is the cleared month-one range. Judge month one on this number, not on clicks.
- A written approval rule and a note on every affiliate you let inYou will need to know who moved and why, in Track 3.
Lesson 1
Treat month one as recruitment only, and judge it on affiliates rather than clicks
Know what month one produces (30 to 60 affiliates if listed in the marketplace, fewer if not), where they come from in week one, and why clicks and revenue are the wrong scoreboard until month two.
- Get listed in the marketplace, or note why you are not yetTarget: Listed in week oneNew listings go into the affiliate dashboard and the affiliate newsletter. Both bring applicants without any work from you.
- Write the month-one scoreboard down: approved affiliates, not clicksTarget: 30 to 60 approved by day 30 if listedClicks start in month two. Judging month one on clicks kills programs that were working.

Lesson 2
Start with your own network: users to the referral program, partners to the affiliate program
Apply the restaurant rule and recruit the people who already use your product first: users into the in-app referral program, and the consultants, agencies and partners who reach your customers in bulk into the affiliate program.
- List every agency, consultant, community and partner who touches your customers, then invite all of them by linkTarget: The whole list, not a shortlistFewer say yes than you expect and fewer still publish. A shortlist of ten leaves you with two.
- Turn on the in-app referral program for your users, with a benefit for the friendTarget: Live for every logged-in userUsers do not need to be told who you are. The giving side of the benefit is what makes them share.

Lesson 3
Know the four surfaces affiliates come from, and what each one is for
Tell apart marketplace inbound, partnership requests to the vetted database, the AI recruit finder for sites outside the network, and campaigns plus the affiliate newsletter, and use each for the job it does.
- Mark the vetted affiliates that fit your niche as qualified and send each a partnership request with a personal lineTarget: Every fitting profile, not the first fiveRequests inside the network are one click to accept. Bulk messaging is deliberately limited, so each request has to read like a partnership.
- Run the competitor and keyword scan, then filter the results to agencies, directories and publishersTarget: Brands filtered outThe finder lists everyone linking to your competitors, including the competitors. The agencies and directories are the ones who will list you.

Lesson 4
Recruit into existing demand with outreach that scales without sounding like a robot
Find the sites that already rank for your topic and link to your competitors, automate the first touch, and take over by hand the moment someone replies.
- Export the finder results into your outreach tool and sequence the first touch, one sequence per site typeTarget: A running sequence, reviewed weeklyAfter a couple of hundred emails every hand-written one sounds the same. Automate the opener, take over at the reply.
- Reply to every response yourself within a dayTarget: Every reply, by a personThe opener can be automated. The negotiation cannot.

Lesson 5
Decide who to let in: approval mode, vetting on traffic, and the stage you are in
Set review versus auto-accept for your stage, vet applicants on where their traffic is rather than where they live, read the fraud flags correctly, and know when "let everyone in and learn" is the right call.
- Write your approval rule in three lines: who gets in, who does not, and what you checkTarget: One rule, applied to every requestWithout a rule you accept on mood, and in Track 3 you cannot tell why the movers moved.
- Check where the traffic is, not where the affiliate is, on every profile with connected analyticsTarget: Traffic location, per applicantA profile in one country with all its traffic in another is normal in both directions. Location tells you nothing.
- Leave a one-line note on every affiliate you acceptTarget: A note per accepted affiliateIn six weeks you will want to know what the ones who published had in common.
