How to create a one-off commission
Written by Joran Hofman, Founder of ReditusA one-off commission is a single commission you give an affiliate on top of, or outside, their recurring commission. Before you add one by hand, check whether one of the automated options below does the job: they keep your records straight without manual work, and manual steps are where mistakes creep in.
Pick the right tool
- A bonus for content, such as a blog article or a video: create a content campaign. You set the rules and the bonus; the bonus is generated as a commission once you accept the affiliate's work. Paid content has to be genuine and disclosed the way each platform requires.
- A bonus for hitting a target, such as a number of paid referrals in a month: create a performance campaign. Campaigns pay a one-off bonus on top of the recurring commission and are on every plan. See how to create affiliate campaigns.
- A customer who signed up without the affiliate's link, for example an agency's client: import the referral under Referrals > Import with the customer's email and your unique ID for them. A referral you import is approved automatically, and commission follows your normal schedule once payments come in. See manually uploading referrals.
- An upgrade, extra seats or another extra payment from a referred customer: nothing to do. Every payment the referred customer makes within your commission period earns commission, unless you excluded that product.
- Paying per lead or per demo: that's not how Reditus works. Affiliates are paid when they deliver a paying customer. If you want your program to be more attractive, raise the percentage or the duration instead.
For anything else you agreed with an affiliate, a one-off commission is the right tool. Typical cases: a reward you promised, a commission that was missed because the customer paid by invoice, or a blog post or demo the affiliate did for you outside a campaign.
How to add a one-off commission
- Go to Payouts > Commissions.
- Click Create commission.
- Fill in the commission for the affiliate and give it a name, so you remember later why you created it. The date is added automatically.
There's no API endpoint for one-off commissions yet, so you create them in the app.
Like any other commission, a one-off commission goes into the affiliate's payout for your program on the 1st of the following month, and Reditus pays it out once you've paid your monthly payout overview.
