FAQ Installation
Answers to the questions we get most while companies install Reditus. The installation has three steps: the tracking script, the signup snippet and your payment processor. The full installation guide walks through every step.
How long does the installation take?
A typical technical installation takes under 30 minutes. With Stripe, your payments come in through the native connection. On another processor you send payments through the Payments API, which takes about four hours of developer time to forward all payments, depending on your processor.
What do I need before I start?
Access to your website (or to Google Tag Manager), to the code of your signup form, and to your Stripe account. Not on Stripe? Then a developer who can send your payments through the Payments API.
We connected Calendly. Do we still need the signup snippet?
Yes, if your site also has a signup form. Step 2 of the installation can be the signup snippet or the demo booking (Calendly or HubSpot, whichever you book demos with), and many B2B SaaS companies have both calls to action. Reditus needs both tracked to credit your affiliates. Connecting Calendly and forgetting the snippet on the signup form is the most common setup mistake we see: install the snippet as well, then make a test signup.
Why do I need to connect my payment processor?
Affiliates earn commission when a customer they referred pays you, so Reditus needs your payment data to see which referrals become paying customers and to calculate commissions. No payment data, no commission. Connect Stripe, or use the Payments API.
We don't use Stripe. Can we still run an affiliate program?
Yes. Stripe is the only native connection. Paddle, Chargebee, Lemon Squeezy, PayPal and any other processor send payment data through the Payments API, matched on the customer's email or your own unique ID. Coupon-code tracking works with Stripe only; on the API, affiliates promote with their tracked links. See run your affiliate program with any payment processor and the Reditus API.
We send manual invoices. Does that work?
Manual invoicing can't be automated: no payment data reaches Reditus on its own, so you report those payments yourself. Ask us in the chat to talk through your options.
Does tracking work across subdomains?
Yes. A signup on app.example.com is normal: install the tracking script on your main domain and on the subdomain where signup happens. Tracking does not work across different root domains, for example marketing on example.com with signup on example.io.
What is the cookie window?
The cookie window is how long after a click a signup can still be credited to the affiliate. Each program sets its own, from 1 to 365 days; new programs start at 60 days, and many programs use 30 days. Attribution is last click: if someone clicks two affiliates' links, the last click before signup gets the referral.
Do I need a cookie consent banner for Reditus?
Typically no cookie consent is needed: the Reditus cookie only records whether a signup came via an affiliate and builds no visitor profile. This is based on the opinion of a Dutch lawyer and may not apply in every country (for example Germany), so check your own local regulations. More in why you don't need to ask for cookie consent. If your consent banner holds the script back until a visitor accepts, signups from visitors who decline can't be credited to the affiliate.
What commission should I offer?
Start from the affiliate's side: average monthly revenue per customer × commission % × number of months is what one referred customer earns them. Multiply that by 10 customers and ask whether you would recommend your own product for that amount. You can reward your best affiliates with tiers: public tiers promote affiliates automatically by their number of paid referrals, and private tiers are invite-only, for example for agencies. More in what is a good commission rate in B2B SaaS.
The tracking script doesn't work. What should I check?
- It's installed on every page, including the signup page and every subdomain in your funnel.
- If you use Google Tag Manager, it's in the right container and your changes are published.
- A cookie consent banner isn't holding it back.
- It's installed only once per page: a double installation can stop conversions from being tracked.
- You test with the test link on the installation tab, which works like an affiliate link, and not with a plain visit to your site.
Still stuck? See installing the tracking script or ask us in the chat.
Do you work with enterprise companies?
Yes. Enterprise is a plan of its own, sold through a demo, and some larger companies run a more custom setup, for example all of their tracking through the API. Book a demo to talk it through.
Can I get a demo or a call first?
Yes. Ask us in the chat, email info@getreditus.com or book a demo.
